Words from the Wise: Goat Birthing

Many "first timers" have no idea what is going on. They have no idea that they were pregnant or that the pains they were experiencing were anything more than a really difficult poop. Instinct guides them and tells them what to do, but sometimes their instinct does not quite "kick-in". They may lay, looking off into space, thinking, "goodness that hurt" and not even notice that there is a little baby that now needs cleaning off.

Life.

My camera ran out of batteries and I haven't had time to get new ones, so there are no new pictures. Sorry! Last week was a bad week. A lot of loss on the farm, very disheartening. This week is showing promise. I received a phone call from someone wanting to buy a puppy. My first! They are getting so big and cute. When I go out the feed them they all hear me coming and come running. Even now you can see each of their little personalities. It will be sad to see them go. Not much new though.

The Circle of Life.

We lost two goats here on the farm. The new baby and Casper (the Nubian billy). It's sad in way but also I know it is a part of life. I think God is truly using this whole experience to teach me so much. No, in fact, I know he is. I am continually brought back to him, having to ask for help and his guidance. And you know what? He provides. I can see it.

New Friend!

So today I went to check on the puppies today and this is what I found.

Curious... she hangs with the puppies and nurses from the momma pup yet I do believe she is a goat. I wasn't even aware the mother goat was pregnant.

Josh named her Stacy. Who's Stacy??

Is she a goat or a puppy?

Days 14- 15: The Cat.

f
Cats have never been my friends. Now this may seem callous but any animal that makes your eyes water, your face to itch, difficulty breathing and complete loss of control in the sneezing department should not be held in high esteem. Now I have tried my hardest to avoid this animal. I don't pet it, I don't talk to it, I try not to even look at it. Yet it has decided to become my new friend or tormentor, I am not sure which yet. Meet the Stalker :

Yes this adorable creature follows me everywhere, and when it is not doing this it is trying to scare the pants off of me. I have found it in my car (Lesson learned: Do not leave sunroof open if you do not want visitors), in the hay trough, which was full of hay so I could not see but only feel, and let me tell you furry moving creatures jumping out at you is not good for your heart, and all of the farm jumping out of bushes unexpectedly. It is not only me it likes to do these things to but also the dogs who would most likely enjoy eating it for lunch. I haven't decided if this cat is highly intelligent or really really lacking in that department. Either way though I think it is starting to win me over.

Days 9 - 11: Settling in... or at least trying too...

New Wisdom from the Farm...

Lesson 123: When milking a goat do not leave milk unattended with dog. You will no longer have milk.

Lesson 209: Birds do not sleep. At least not when I want to.

Lesson 324: Fighting with large billy goat is feudal. The goat always wins.

Lesson 428: When walking keep mouth closed, unless you desire extra protein.

Lesson 492: Anything worth wanting is worth working for.

I consider that our present difficulties are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. ~Romans 8:18
